Best Of Byron Bay: Where To Eat, Drink, Shop and Surf

Best of Byron Bay, Travel Guide - A Pilot's Daughter

What might be Australia's most charming beach town, Byron Bay is home to some fantastic home-grown shops and cafés. There's always a way to enjoy yourself in Byron. Here's a list of places to check out next time you cruise into this Aussie haven.

Coffee, Byron Bay - A Pilot's Daughter

You probably don’t think coffee mecca when you think of Oz, but you probably should. Though Melbourne is known to be top dog on the java-front, Byron certainly has a hold on some quality cups of joe. For a smooth, long black in what’s probably the most happening café in town, head over to Bayleaf Café. This place is consistently packed for good reason.

If you’re grabbing one for the road, check out Byron’s newest concept coffee shop: Sparrow. These guys make a coconut milk cappuccino that will change your caffeinated life.

Byron’s got some really great cafés for brunching. Two of my faves:

 Zucchini Fritters at The Eatery

Zucchini Fritters at The Eatery

The Eatery. Their daily specials always look drool-worthy, but the zucchini fritters with poached eggs on the regular menu are a solid choice too; so yummy, hearty and packed with fresh, local, organic veggies!

The Roadhouse. Just outside of town, The Roadhouse has quite a reputation among locals. Bourgeois, uber-hip, with too-cool, gorgeous staff. If you're prepared to take out a mortgage on your cold drip and green juice, it’s worth stopping in.

Ladies, head into Amalita for a collection of modern, romantic dresses with an almost vintage/bohemian feel.

Around the corner AHOY TRADER not only carries some fantastic home decor items and gifts, but also a well-curated selection of modern and fun Aussie and Ethiopian designer pieces.

Since you’re in Byron, chances are you might be in the market for a new board. For the best deal in town and most helpful staff around, head over to The Surfboard Warehouse. They’ll have you set to catch some waves in no time.

 Arakwal Beach

Arakwal Beach

There is no shortage of gorgeous spots to get wet in and around Byron.

SUP, Paddle Board, Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads - A Pilot's Daughter

Arakwal National Park is stunning and secluded. Whether you're after a revitalizing morning dip (perhaps in only your birthday suit...) or catching a couple easy, sunset waves, this is this place to do it.

Head north of town to Brunswick Heads for a SUP session down the mangrove-lined river and grab a schooner at the club when you're done.

Whatever you're after during your trip to Byron, you can find it. And then some. Xx
